MUNK collective - The new

.
If you follow me on instagram you might have noticed that these past few days have been filled with inspiration... It all started at Arnhem this last weekend and ended up yesterday, at one of my favorite scandinavian cities Copenhagen, where I was invited to a special press launch from MUNK collective in their HQ presenting their new products.

Besides their beautiful frame trays and the fact that Hans Peter Munk, the man behind MUNK collective, explored a succesfull interior and furniture store in Copenhagen, I wasn't very familiar with the latest developments of the brand  so I was very happy to be able to discover their beautiful and stylish products including the new products
TIME, BLIND, CLICK and CLIMB!

Like it just said Hans Peter Munk is the man behind MUNK Collective. He started his career at Muuto and Vipp but in 2012, he opened his MUNK store in Copenhagen. Since Hans Peter always had some designers and architects in his network, it was natural to hear if they had nothing in the drawers, which could be interesting for a small new design company to put into production The first product was the FRAME tray and it was released in three sizes and five different colors. The tray became a hit and after launching more products Hans Peter decided to close the store and focus on MUNK Collective.

"MUNK collective is a design collective consisting of designers and architects. Hans Peter choses the designers and the designs, and he is therefore the one who choses the direction and the overall aesthetics of the brand.  MUNK collective is not necessarily a Scandinavian brand, and it does not matter whether our designers are from Seoul or Stockholm, Cape Town or Copenhagen. All that matter to us is that we see potential in the designs for our collection and in the designer for our collective."

For the latest four additions of the collection Hans Peter designed two of them. The stunning click lounge and climb. The click lounge chair is a piece of furniture that with a single simple click can be transformed into a lounge sofa and consists of a powder coated steel frame and a cold foam seat upholstered with Kvadrat fabric.

Climb is a shelving system which can be combined in several different ways.
wall mounted or free standing, climb can be used in endless possible ways as you can let it climb up your wall, position one unit as a bedside table or use it as a small storage and is made of oak- or walnut-veneered board with sticks for stabilizing available in oak, warm grey and burnt umber.

The beautiful Blind lamp (my personal favorite) is designed by designers Anita Johansen and Laura Faurschou. The blind lamp refers to its name blind because of its ability to act as a blind thanks to the adjustable lampshade. choose from three different positions creating lighting for every occasion whether you are working or having dinner at the same table.

The completely silent Time clock is designed by designers Birgitte Due Madsen & Jonas Trampedach. A perforated steel plate was the starting point for the design of time clock. besides giving transparency and character to the wall-mounted clock, the hexagonal pattern gives prominence to the even numbers and allows time to be easily identified. A perfect minimalistic and timeless accessory for the home in my opion and available in redbrown and white.

IMM Cologne 2017

As I mentioned in my previous post about Formex 2017, these past few weeks have been filled with inspiration. It started during my visit at Stockholm and it continued a few days
later one of the largest fairs in the field of furniture and interior design:  IMM Cologne where I was invited to join a press tour.

The tour started with a visit at the amazing, all-white stand of Swedish brand String furniture. On my blog I've shared news and images about the String collections several times and at Cologne I was inspired again by the original and creative styling work by Lotta Agaton for String. During the fair String has launched 3 new warm colors for their String pocket collection: Burgundy, mustard and sand.

Beside the well known classics we could admire a number of designs from the new collection at the stand of Thonet. Personally I really liked the sidetable S 18,  designed by Uli Budde. Because of its playful design this side table fits in every interior in my opion,

I have also admired the recently launched 1090 series consisting of a beautiful table (available in Essen and Oak) and 2 different benches with nice rounded corners whose frame is made of a thin, curved flat bar steel with a black cast iron finish. And have you seen table lamp Kuula? This new minimalist table lamp was really my personal favorite!

Through her blog and her Instagram account we where able to follow her choices and
have little sneakpeeks when she made plans to decorate her IMMspired booth at
the Bloggers Trend show. This whole project must have been so exciting for Desiree!
So yes... It was a great pleasure to admire all these sneakpeeks in real life at the cosy and
stylish decorated booth of always inspiring Dutch blogger Vosgesparis!
I have been following the blog of Desiree for years and she really succeeded to create
her own tough but warm recognizable atmosphere ... She did such a great job.!

By using the selected products of IMM exhibitors Desiree created an accessible atmosphere that was very inviting to enter her "home" and to stay a little longer to enjoy and admire
everything around and have a little chat... On her blog you can see a nice overview!

The guided press tour ended at the beautiful Design Post. In this magnificent building in which international- but also many Dutch brands are represented,  I was surprised by
the exquisite collection of Arper. I knew this Italian brand yet but after seeing more of it I'm really interested to discover more of this great collection.

I loved the soft colors and the design of the renewed Catifa 46 Chair! The used soft tones  of the acoustic wall decoration in the showroom combined with the soft pink bank and the beautiful black Song coat rack were very inviting to come back  soon and to enjoy more of the warm atmosphere.

This week I was invited to the Vitality launch of the
five new design collections of IKEA and  I really had a very
inspiring afternoon at the amazing location the XBANK Amsterdam!

With these 5 limited collections (the Användbar collection,
the colorfull Giltig collection by British fashiondesigner Katie EaryThe Viktigt collection,
the Glödande collection by Belgian designer Walter Van Beirendonck and
the photographic ART-event 2016)Ikea explores new opportunities.
The vitality collection is a way to new collaborations, materials and production processes.
The lessons that Ikea has draw from this are the basis for new ideas and innovations
that ultimately lead to new designs and new (limited) collections.

A little while ago I showed some pictures of the Viktigt collectionone of the five new
design collections and I loved it from the moment  that I saw the first press images.
The Viktigt collection (available from may 2016)  is a collaboration between Swedish ceramic designer  Ingegerd Råman and IKEA and is all about craftsmanship and simplicity.

For me it was a real pleasure and very inspiring to meet Ingegerd at the launch and to talk
about the stunning collection and her book about her work for Ikea, the atelier and her home.

Today an impression of the displayed Viktigt collection at the launch!
