new plans - new chair

Na een paar hectische dagen op het werk had ik vandaag heerlijk een dag vrij. 

Eindelijk weer eens de tijd om eens rustig om mij heen te kijken en verder na te denken

  over wat ik zou willen aanpakken en aanpassen in onze woonkamer, want ondanks alle veranderingen die er regelmatig plaatsvinden in ons huis is er, 

naast het opfrissen van het plafond en de muren, één belangrijke plek die ik op 

korte termijn echt zou willen veranderen... de eethoek!

We hebben eigenlijk al jarenlang dezelfde langwerpige houten tafel met 6 identieke stoelen en vandaag leek mij een mooi moment om een aantal eettafels uit te kiezen die als favoriet gelden.

Op de site van woonwinkel Flinders vond ik handige tips bij het maken van een keuze en 
daardoor had ik al snel 4 verschillende soortgelijke eettafels gevonden van mooie
Scandinavische design merken!

Om een begin te maken van deze verandering, heb ik een tijdje geleden onze eetkamerstoelen verkocht en ben ik begonnen met het maken van een wishlist van de stoelen die we graag willen hebben.  Omdat er zoveel keuze is en we verschillende stoelen mooi vinden (en er ook al 2 hebben) besloten we voor een diverse verzameling van zwarte design stoelen te gaan.

Twee weken geleden was het zover en kregen we één van de stoelen die al heel lang op mijn lijstje staat, De Normann Copenhagen Form Armchair stoel met stalen onderstel (ontworpen door Simon Legald) Ik mocht van woonwinkel Flinders een blogpost maken over deze stoel en laten zien hoe bijzonder deze kuipstoel eigenlijk is en eigenlijk zeggen de foto's genoeg... 
hij past perfect in ons interieur! 

Misschien heb ik het al eerder verteld en als je mij op instagram volgt, heb je vast wel eens gezien dat de eettafel een belangrijke rol in ons gezins- en sociale leven speelt. Urenlang zitten we aan deze tafel, of het nu om te eten is, spelletjes te spelen, gezellig te borrelen of huiswerk te maken. 

Het was dus voor ons heel belangrijk om een prettig zittende stoel aan te schaffen! En bij de form chair zie je dit meteen:  Het doel van Normann Copenhagen was een comfortabele kuipstoel ontwerpen waarbij zitting en poten een geheel vormen. Je hoeft maar een keer naar deze stoel te kijken om te zien dat dat goed gelukt is. Het stevige onderstel gaat naadloos over in de zitting, zodat je heerlijk zit en de stoel er door zijn mooie vormen ook nog eens heel stijlvol uitziet!

De zitting van onze stoel is gemaakt van zwart plastic en het onderstel is van zwart gelakt staal maar zowel de zitting als het onderstel zijn leverbaar in verschillende kleuren. Je kunt dus eindeloos combineren!  Om het nog eens extra comfortabel te maken kozen we er een bijpassend form zitkussen bij waardoor de stoel een extra uitnodigende uitstraling krijgt!

Wat ik zelf zo fijn vind is dat deze stoel geschikt is voor aan de eettafel, maar bijvoorbeeld ook op kantoor of als extra stoel in je woonkamer... heel comfortabel en tijdloos mooi!

After a few hectic days at work, I had a nice day off today. Finally the time to take a look around me and to think further about what I would like to change and adjust in our living room. Despite all the changes that take place regularly in our house, there is, apart from the refreshing of the ceiling and the walls, one important place that I would really want to change in the short term ... the dining area!

We've actually had the same elongated wooden table with 6 identical chairs for years now and today it seemed like a good time to choose a number of dining tables that are the favorites. On the site of store Flinders I found useful tips when making a choice and because of that I quickly found 4 different similar dining tables of beautiful Scandinavian design brands! 

To make a start on this change, I sold our dining room chairs a while ago and I started making a wish list of the chairs we would like to have. Because there is so much choice and we like different chairs (and also have 2) we decided to go for a diverse collection of black designer chairs. Two weeks ago we got one of the chairs that has been on my list for a long time, The Normann Copenhagen Form Armchair chair with steel frame (designed by Simon Legald) I was allowed to make a blog post about this chair from dutch interior store Flinders. See how special this bucket seat actually is and actually the pictures say enough ... it fits perfectly in our interior!

Riga Chair

 As I told you in one of my previous posts I have visited Riga for a 

design tour with a group of bloggers, photographers and journalists and once again 

I must say it really was a surprising and very inspiring visit and definitely

 worth a second visit in the nearest future!

In addition to the nice people, the amazing historic (Jugenstill) buildings, 

the tastefull food and the green parcs, we also learned more about Latvia 's minimalist 

design during the tour! One of the companies that we visited was RIGA Chair.

RIGA chair is a trade mark of Riga Chair factory and since its founding in 1999 they 

 quickly become a leading brand that produced serveral collections for home and 

office with natural materials as birch and beech wood combined with fabrics in 

different shades.  Besides the Red Dot Design Award winner - the flowershaped stool 

designed by Aldis Circenisa -  I was attracted immediately by the stunning 

kids chairs collection and in particular the Roo rocking toy!

"The basic idea behind the Roo rocker was to find a shape with the potential to be 

produced out of a single package of flat plywood sheets.  The minimalistic, archetypal

 shape gives the immediate impression of a rocking toy.  For some, it may look more

 like a sheep, or kangaroo; for others, it still looks like a good old rocking horse, "

Roo has received the IF Product Design Award 2013 and the German Design Award: 

Special Mention 2014 and is available in birch, beech, oak, walnut veneer or 

laminate in various colours. It 's that I no longer have small children but otherwise

 I was definitely tempted to buy the Roo... only the stunning decorative value 

would be a good reason, don't you think so?!

Afteroomchair by Menu #giveaway

Today some snapshots of some of last weeks changes (and try outs) at

my workspace/bedroom with a tribute to the beautiful 

Menu Afteroom dining chair that has finally arrived in my home ;-)

About three years ago I wrote my first blogpost (here) about this chair and 

I still love the simplicity and the clear lines of its beautiful design 

This three-legged chair is an homage to functionalism and to the Bauhaus school of art & architecture.  The chair is availble in various versions and I choosed the black dining chair 4 
to add in my renewed and refreshed workspace. The three legs, the round details and its flexible backrest made it an interesting and practical chair for us to add in our relatively small bedroom/workspace.  What do you think?

SHADE by Norm Architects

 

Between all the great and inspiring photos that we see this week on social media about

 the Salone del Mobile,  I also admired the stunning new collection at Norm Architects.

The entitled - SHADE -  collection was created in collaboration with 

Sorensen leather and looks very inviting... I already loved the design of

the chair but this addition with the soft leather (in muted earth tones)

 gives it a more luxurous feel and  and it looks perfect to combine with other 

natural materials as concrete, stone and wood. 

Tussen alle geweldige foto's die we zien op social media over de Salone del Mobile

zag ik ook een nieuwe collectie voorbij komen bij Norm Architects.

De SHADE collectie is gemaakt in samenwerking met Sorensen leather en ziet er echt heel uitnodigend uit...Ik vond het ontwerp van de stoeltjes al heel erg mooi maar deze toevoeging met de zitting in zachte leer (in rustige aarde tinten) heeft net even een luxeure uitstraling en die door het kleurgebruik ook heel mooi te combineren is met materialen als beton, steen en hout.  Mooie inspiratie om deze vrijdag mee te beginnen... fijne dag!

  Benjamin Hubert is created as a mix-and match collection and

I just love the beautiful and minimal design and

 all its possibilities... what do you think?
