a former warehouse - apartmentlove

.
"Wooden elements, a concrete floor, a spruce-panelled staircase,
a brick wall, beautiful natural light and timeless furniture..."

After a busy week with less time for the blog, I'm starting this new week with
this great place by James Davies (owner of architecture studio
 Paper House Projecr in London)

James transformed a former warehouse in a stunning open space and
I just love the warm mimalist atmosphere created by the used materials,
the perfect mix of monochrome tones and the added fresh greens....

Have a wonderful new week!

magazinelove - This Orient

"As we try to explore what the origins of all creative energy are, it is essential to face up to our own roots, and a lot of people already do. Our magazine is called 'THIS ORIENT. The name implies the idea that what we want to share already exists, yet is still waiting to be explored." © 'THIS ORIENT

I'm  a real magazine enthusiast and I love discovering and admiring new magazines!
This weekend I was so lucky to receive the stunning new (and second)  issue of
this Orient  called "Sirens" .  This issue is dedicated to -  and filled with
inspiring stories about female creatives that are working in different areas...

The magazine is all about architecture, its residents and their art in a
very pretty aesthetic style and I must say the magazine felt great in my hands,
I really liked it! Besides the beautiful cover (I have this thing with magazinecovers) and
the great stories  I was pleasantly surprised by their amazing photos...
Very inspiring!

This Orient is a nice addition to the world of magazines in my opion
you will find all about this issue here

The Cité de l'Océan et du Surf and more...

Hi there! I'm finally back after a fantastic summerbreak
I hope you all had a lovely summer !

Just like I hoped this year we really had the time to explore the French and
Spanish Atlantic blues at the Cote Basque and its beautiful inland.

Beside the well known cities (like Biarritz, San Sebastian, Hendaye,
Saint-Jean-de-Luz) the stunning beaches and the beautiful raw bays (la Corniche Basque)
with its amazing waves, We also discovered how varied this region
(Pyrenees-Atlantique) really is when we visited the Pyrenees and the surrounding
traditional villages. Even tough it wasn't the first time that we were here
we have discovered many new things.

Today some snapshots of  "The Cité de l'Océan et du Surf" in Biarritz.
One of the "mustgo" places on my list was visiting this stunning wave-shaped museum
designed by Steven Holl Architects in collaboration with Solange Fabião.
The design is based on the concept "under the sky" and "under the sea,"
The building features a strongly curving roof, which also shapes the space of the
public plaza, tilted towards the horizon and the ocean. The very modern interior of
the main space is white plaster and a wooden floor even provides under-floor
wiring flexibilities. We have spend several hours at this very interesting and fun
inter-active museum with its amazing view at the Ocean...
